this is a whispery post because i think you’re sleeping right now but tonight i had such a good time with friends because we sat around and watched the master class dvds from the royal shakespeare company. all these brits performing dueling interpretations of Shylock, Titus, and Hamlet. Patrick Stewart, Dame Dench, Sir Ian, other divine gay Englishmen. This is far better than any in the actors studio none sense. this a fascinating exploration of craft. im not envious of europeans, i gladly wave my blue passport around whenever i get the chance, but man! they really know what they’re doing with the shakespeare, theater, accent situation.
For lazy folks like you and me who don’t feel like watching the movies to find them out. Enjoy!

The secret desires of my text playlist have been fulfilled.
In Stephen King’s On Writing, he talks about the concept of an ideal reader, the exemplary person for whom you’re specifically writing. There can be others, and other people can enjoy it, but this thing is for them.
When writing the text playlist, I coyly placed at the end: “Maybe you can make one of your own and share it?” which may as well been a thinly veiled request for Liz Danzico and Rob Giampietro to post some things for me to read over the summer. Yeah, I suppose I could have just asked, but sometimes scavenger hunts are more fun than grocery shopping.
Liz posted her list, and surprise, it’s great. Rob’s still working on his list, but he did post one of his choices. Leave it to Rob to bring his A-game and post a book while the rest of us are choosing blog posts.
the best thing i’ve ever seen on the internet? damn right.
