this is a whispery post because i think you’re sleeping right now but tonight i had such a good time with friends because we sat around and watched the master class dvds from the royal shakespeare company. all these brits performing dueling interpretations of Shylock, Titus, and Hamlet. Patrick Stewart, Dame Dench, Sir Ian, other divine gay Englishmen. This is far better than any in the actors studio none sense. this a fascinating exploration of craft. im not envious of europeans, i gladly wave my blue passport around whenever i get the chance, but man! they really know what they’re doing with the shakespeare, theater, accent situation.
It's just where I put things I'm interested in but don't have time to look at or read or listen to or reblog when I come across them, or that I want to save for some other reason (so that my real blog's draft folder can go back to being for, you know, drafts).
Posts will be deleted when no longer needed.
This is a video of Ben Folds singing Elliott Smith’s “Say Yes.”
I’m Lee and I approve this cover. Have a good weekend, everyone.
Maria Bamford’s One-Hour Homemade Christmas Special! on Vimeo
Friends. You owe it to yourself to watch Maria Bamford’s whole video at leisure and in one uninterrupted sitting.1 Because, it’s a gift. She made it for us. For Christmas.
A very special, homemade Christmas gift that will, in future generations, sit alongside A Charlie Brown Christmas, Christmas Comes to Pac-Land, and your drunk aunt from Ohio who smells like formaldehyde and Starlight mints. All with equal awkward ease.
No words. Just. So good.
A very Merry Christmas to Maria, Bert, and Blossom. Thank you for the gift. Thank you very much.
Pretty much a native speaker in Pretend-Tiger. Ah-RAAHR-rahr-rahr-rrrraaahr. Rahr-rahr-rahr…Raaaaaaaaaahr.
Ready for Maximum Fun? Hey, know what? Maria Bamford will be at MaxFunCon in Lake Arrowhead, California from May 7-9 2009. Merlin will be there, too, performing with You Look Nice Today, alongside John Hodgman, Jonathan Coulton, Andrew WK, Marc Maron, and about a million other awesome people. Last year’s was amazing.
You should buy a ticket. We’ll hang.
“one uninterrupted sitting” Read as: not while surfing Tumblr for photos of sad girls wearing fingerless Etsy gloves and writing love in a Moleskine. ↩
